Rena Bianca

The village beach

Of all the beaches in Santa Teresa Gallura, the most famous is certainly Rena Bianca. It stretches about 700 meters wide, at the end of a steep slope that from the town's central square sinks toward the sea and widens its horizons toward nearby Corsica. The fine white sand, the crystal-clear water whose level gradually annalises generating infinite shades of blue and turquoise, the tower of Longonsardo that stands like a vigilant sentinel, the dunes behind it and the cliffs that envelop it on the sides: everything contributes to making Rena Bianca a corner of paradise.

In addition to all this, Rena Bianca is the beach of the teresini. Even on sunny winter days, when the air is cold but the sky blue is vivid and intense, Rena Bianca is the little piece of wonder that anyone can easily reach. All it takes is a walk to the sea, until you overlook the empty expanse of pale sand, to Restoring peace to the senses and the spirit. Here the wind blows powerful and free, carrying scents of cistus and broom, and that smell of Sardinia that anyone who has ever set foot on the island has learned to recognize.

However, Rena Bianca as we know her Was in danger of being compromised forever. Global warming, uncontrolled construction, overcrowding and consequent outsized anthropogenic load have put a strain on the dune system that makes Rena Bianca as beautiful as it is fragile. For these reasons, the city administration decided to take action to limit the risks of the total disintegration of the strand, and as of June 1, 2024, the number quota and entry by reservation and fee. The whole operation was based on an environmental assessment report, and the proceeds from the entrance fee were reinvested in order to Adapt the use of the beach both in terms of compliance with the new regulations and in terms of safety, hygiene and environmental decorum.

It is still the same. In fact, it's better.

Every action carried out on the Rena Bianca beach has had the purpose and ambition to improve it. It is now safer, more accessible and cleaner. We never thought of simply close the beach, indeed: we have been aware from day one of the need to consider limiting access as a first step Toward the total redevelopment of Rena Bianca. Therefore, we immediately designed and built new, modern and safe facilities.

Take a look at the video.

We rethought
the accesses

Rena Bianca is now accessed through wooden walkways, the slope of which ensures safe transit for pedestrians and wheelchairs. In addition, since they are properly raised from the ground, they do not directly impact the ground and, avoiding direct contact of feet on sand, contribute to preventing dunes from crumbling.

How to love Rena Bianca

To protect the beach, we need everyone's help. Here are 12 simple rules.

If you must produce garbage, sort it.

Treat this place as you would treat your home, the baskets are there.

Avoid plastic bags-they fly away very easily.

They are a trap for animals, a detriment to the soil, and an obscenity to the landscape.

Leave shampoo at home
and bubble bath.

To rinse off the salt, fresh water is enough.

No fires, ever.

Bonfires are dangerous, prohibited by law, and harmful before they are suggestive.

Respect the inhabitants
Of the beach.

Crabs, hermit crabs, starfish, urchins: they are fine if they are free. Don't pick them up.

Use a mat.

The sponge of bath towels retains sand, which is the thing we are most trying to preserve.

Choose compostable.

Avoid disposable tableware. Compostable is best, but if it's a reusable material it's perfect.

Do not smoke on the beach.

There is a designated area, don't worry. Away from the sand and non-smokers.

Souvenirs can be found
At the info point. And only there.

Shells, sand and stones are not souvenirs, and collecting them is prohibited.

Defend the dunes.

Look at this beauty: it is thanks to them. Don't step on them, don't tear the lilies that grow there, don't take away the sand.

Rinse it off.

Use foot washers to remove as much sand as possible.

Leave them at home.

Pets would not have the freedom to run and play as they would like.
